This morning I discovered a little free space in the fridge. My son wasn't hungry when he got home so he didn't eat any soup. With a full fridge, this is a problem, because you cannot place something on top of a foil or plastic wrapped bowl (Ok, I know that some wraps claim to be strong – but mine always cave in.) I have been covering them with plastic wrap or foil. So, I don't have a lid for every container. Third, those darned glass Pyrex bowls – well, most of my lids (they are made of plastic) have become brittle and broken over the years. Second, I had just done a huge amount of food shopping, so the fridge was filled to the brim. Lights off.īut I had three things working against me last night.įirst, one of our sons was out late – so I left the soup on the counter thinking that he might have some when he got home. Speaking of that clutter (which usually means you can never find the right lid for the container you’re using): The Rubbermaid lids come in four different sizes and most are capable of doing double duty on containers of different volumes. You would think that would have been the end of it. We also love the Flex & Seal’s stacking scheme, which makes it easy to avoid the dreaded storage container cabinet clutter. This set really excelled in the stain test, absorbing almost no color from our tomato and turmeric soup the only visible stains appeared on the underside of the lid. But we were pleasantly surprised to find that in our drop test, the lids stayed on well enough to avoid major splatters, even when we dropped the container on its side. We were skeptical that this wouldn’t provide an effective spill-proof seal. But, instead of snaps on the side, these Rubbermaid containers are fitted with flexible silicone lids that you press onto the container. High-quality plastic storage container sets overwhelmingly rely on snap-locking lids. Plastic winner: Rubbermaid Flex & Seal 26-Piece Set
